AI marketing tools use machine learning or generative AI to do one marketing job: research, creative, media buying, attribution, reporting or agent-run tasks. The fastest way to choose is by job to be done. This guide covers seven categories, what to look for in each, and examples checked on vendors' own sites.

AI tools for marketing planning and research

These tools answer two questions: where should we compete, and who are we talking to? They pull search, traffic and market data, benchmark competitors and turn customer descriptions into personas or plans.

What to look for: data that covers the countries you sell in, sources you can inspect, and outputs your team can reuse in briefs and ad targeting.

  • Semrush describes itself as a platform to grow and measure brand visibility from search results to AI answers, with a Traffic and Market toolkit to benchmark competitors and track trends.
  • Similarweb sells AI-powered digital data to analyze market size, trends, competitor moves and audience loyalty, and tracks competitors across display, search and social.
  • HubSpot's Make My Persona is a free AI tool that turns a plain-language description of your ideal customer into a structured buyer persona.

AI tools for content and ad creative

Generative tools write copy, create images and video, and produce variants of an ad for different sizes, audiences and languages. It is the most crowded category.

What to look for: brand voice and style controls, every language you publish in, review and approval steps, and a way to test which variant wins. Our guide to AI ad creative testing covers the testing side.

  • Jasper calls itself "the agent workspace built for modern marketing teams," with 100+ specialized agents, brand voice controls and content in over 30 languages. See Jasper vs Grower.
  • Canva builds AI into its design editor, including an AI image generator, an AI video generator, Magic Write for copy, Magic Resize and Translate.
  • AdCreative.ai generates ad banners, texts, photoshoots and videos, and scores creatives before you start advertising.

AI tools for ad optimization and media buying

These tools adjust bids, budgets, audiences, placements and creative rotation, inside one ad platform or across several. Start with what the ad platforms already include, because much of this automation is built in.

What to look for: which channels the tool can change rather than only read, how changes are approved, spending guardrails, and a log of every change.

  • Meta Advantage+ applies AI across a campaign's audience, placement and budget, and Google's Performance Max is a goal-based campaign type that reaches all Google Ads inventory, including YouTube, Search, Display, Discover, Gmail and Maps, from one campaign.
  • Madgicx describes itself as "the agentic AI advertising platform for Meta ads." It optimizes Meta ads only, while its reporting also covers Google Ads, TikTok, Shopify and Klaviyo. See Madgicx vs Grower.
  • Smartly is an AI advertising platform that combines creative, media and intelligence, and its supported platforms include Meta, Google, TikTok, Snapchat, Pinterest and Amazon. See Smartly vs Grower.

AI tools for measurement and attribution

Each ad platform claims credit for the same sale. Measurement tools combine ad, site and order data to estimate which channel actually drove it, using multi-touch attribution, marketing mix modeling (MMM) or incrementality tests. Our explainer on marketing attribution models shows why the numbers disagree.

What to look for: conversions de-duplicated across channels and apps, a choice of attribution models, support for how you sell (online orders or B2B pipeline), and conversions sent back to the ad platforms.

  • Triple Whale calls itself "the AI operating system built for modern commerce." Its Compass product combines attribution, MMM and incrementality, and its Moby AI can act on connected ad accounts. See Triple Whale vs Grower.
  • Northbeam describes itself as "the marketing intelligence platform for profitable growth," with multi-touch attribution, MMM, incrementality and creative analytics.
  • Cometly offers AI marketing attribution for B2B SaaS companies, tying ad spend to closed-won revenue and sending conversions back to Meta, Google and LinkedIn.

AI tools for marketing reporting and analytics

Reporting tools pull data from ad, analytics and CRM platforms into one place, then build dashboards, write summaries or answer questions in plain language. Our guide to automating client reporting shows the agency workflow.

What to look for: connectors for every source you use, refresh frequency, where the data lands (sheet, BI tool or warehouse), and AI summaries that show the numbers behind them. The marketing analytics platform checklist goes deeper.

  • Supermetrics moves data from 170+ marketing sources into spreadsheets, BI tools, data warehouses and AI tools such as Claude and ChatGPT. See Supermetrics vs Grower.
  • AgencyAnalytics is a client reporting platform for marketing agencies that connects 85+ marketing platforms, with an Ask AI feature that surfaces trends, dips and opportunities.
  • Google Data Studio, formerly Looker Studio, is a no-cost tool for building customizable dashboards and reports.

AI marketing agents

Agents plan and carry out multi-step tasks, such as building a campaign, shifting budget or pulling a report, across the tools they can access. Several vendors above now include one, among them Jasper's agents, Triple Whale's Moby and Cometly's AI agent. Our guide to AI marketing agents explains what they can do today.

What to look for: what the agent can read and change, when it must ask before acting, spending limits, and a full record of what it did.

  • Salesforce Marketing Cloud includes a Campaign Agent that creates on-brand, channel-ready content and acts as a digital campaign manager, handling asset creation, send prioritization and budget optimization.
  • Insider One offers Agent One, which it calls "the self-optimizing intelligence system for customer engagement," across email, SMS, WhatsApp, push, web and app. See Insider vs Grower.

All-in-one marketing platforms with AI

All-in-one platforms cover several of the jobs above in one system, so planning, execution and measurement share the same data. The trade-off is depth: a specialist tool can go further in its one job.

What to look for: which jobs are covered today versus on a roadmap, how the parts share data, and how pricing changes as you add users or channels.

  • HubSpot Marketing Hub is marketing automation software tied to HubSpot's CRM, with AI-powered emails, ads, social and analytics, Breeze Assistant, and Agent Hub for building and managing AI agents. See HubSpot vs Grower.
  • Zoho Marketing Plus is a unified marketing platform covering email, SMS, webinars, events, surveys and social media, and its AI assistant, Zia, drafts campaign plans from your objectives. See Zoho vs Grower.
  • Grower plans, executes, optimizes and attributes marketing in one system (see below).

Where Grower fits

Grower is an all-in-one AI marketing platform, "the AI operating system for marketing": one system to plan, execute, optimize and streamline marketing.

  • Planning: the AI marketing planner sizes markets with TAM, SAM and SOM, drafts B2B, B2C and B2G personas with targeting for each ad channel, and compares budgets with live spend every month.
  • Content: the Creative Hub generates text formats such as ad copy, email, blog posts, product descriptions and video scripts. Image and video are marked coming soon, so pair Grower with a design tool for visuals today.
  • Optimization: weekly recommendations come with the evidence behind them and a risk label. Approve one and Grower pushes it to the channel, with autopilot for low-risk changes.
  • Measurement: the attribution engine de-duplicates conversions from every channel and app into one count, then applies one of six models, including one you build yourself.
  • Agent: AskGrower reports, generates creatives, creates tasks and changes campaigns from chat, and asks before it spends credits or touches anything live.

Grower has 17 connections, including Google Ads, Meta Ads, TikTok Ads, Snapchat Ads, Google Analytics and HubSpot. Plans start at $199 a month for three users (see pricing). If you need only one job done, such as image generation or Meta-only buying, a specialist tool above may fit better.

How to choose the best AI marketing tools: a buyer's checklist

No single tool is best for everyone. The best AI marketing tools for you do your most expensive job well on your own data. These are the criteria we use:

  1. Job fit. Name the job and what it costs today in hours or money. Ask for a demo on your data, not a sample account.
  2. Channel coverage. List the channels you spend on and check the tool can read them and, where needed, change them.
  3. Control. Find out what the AI can change without asking, who approves, and whether every change is logged.
  4. Measurement. Check whether conversions are de-duplicated across platforms or simply added up from each platform's own reports.
  5. Brand and language. Test brand voice and every language you publish in with a real brief.
  6. Data protection. Ask what personal data the tool processes, why, and under which contract terms.
  7. Total cost. Compare seat, ad-spend and credit-based pricing, onboarding fees and the tools it would replace.

Regional notes for GCC and UK teams

UAE, Saudi Arabia and Qatar

  • Snapchat and TikTok connections. Snapchat's ad reach equals 72.9% of the population in Saudi Arabia and 44.9% in the UAE, according to DataReportal's Digital 2026 reports for Saudi Arabia and the UAE. A tool limited to Meta and Google misses a major channel. Of the tools above, Smartly lists Snapchat and TikTok among its platforms, Madgicx optimizes Meta only, and Grower connects both.
  • Arabic. Ask every vendor on your shortlist to produce Arabic copy from your own brief, and check right-to-left layouts in ad previews before you buy.
  • Local data laws. The UAE, Saudi Arabia and Qatar each have a personal data law with consent rules for direct marketing. Our comparison of PDPL and UK GDPR marketing consent covers them, and the GCC marketing playbook covers the wider picture.

UK

When a tool processes personal data on your behalf, UK GDPR Article 28 requires a contract that covers, among other things, processing only on your documented instructions, security measures and the use of sub-processors, as the ICO explains. Ask for the vendor's data processing agreement and sub-processor list before you upload customer lists.

Frequently asked questions

What are AI marketing tools?

AI marketing tools are software that use machine learning or generative AI to do marketing work: research, creative, media buying, measurement, reporting, or multi-step tasks run by agents. Some live inside ad platforms, such as Meta Advantage+ and Google Performance Max. Others are standalone, and all-in-one platforms combine several jobs in one system.

What are the best AI marketing tools?

It depends on the job. We judge each tool on job fit with your own data, channel coverage, approval controls, de-duplicated measurement, language support, data protection and total cost. The tool that does best on those criteria for your most expensive job is the best one for you, which is why this guide groups tools by use case instead of ranking them.

What are the best AI marketing tools for small business?

Start with one job and a free or low-cost option. Google Data Studio is no-cost, HubSpot's Make My Persona is free, Madgicx starts at $45 a month priced by ad spend, and Jasper Pro is $59 per seat a month billed yearly (checked October 2026). Grower starts at $199 a month for three users if you want one system.

How are AI marketing tools different from marketing automation?

Marketing automation runs rules you set, such as sending an email when someone fills in a form. AI marketing tools analyze data, generate content and recommend or make changes. Many products now mix both. Our comparison of AI marketing platforms and marketing automation explains the difference in detail.

Can AI marketing tools run campaigns on their own?

Some can. Meta Advantage+, Google Performance Max and several agents adjust budgets or make changes automatically. Most teams keep a human approval step for anything that spends money or goes live, and a log of every change. Grower, for example, pushes a recommendation to the channel only after you approve it, with autopilot limited to low-risk changes.
