A White Friday marketing strategy is your plan for the Gulf's version of Black Friday: the late-November sale season that Amazon, noon and other retailers run across the UAE and Saudi Arabia. It sets your offer, audiences, creative, budget pacing and post-sale retention, built backward from the sale dates so nothing launches cold in the most expensive week.

What is White Friday in the Gulf?

White Friday is the Middle East name for Black Friday. It started as one retailer's rebrand and has become a regional sale season that runs for roughly ten days.

According to Gulf News, Souq.com (the marketplace that later became Amazon.ae) "brought Black Friday to the Middle East for the first time in 2014 but christened it as 'White Friday' in respect to Friday being the day of worship, gathering, friends and family in the Arab world."

The name now covers a window, not a day. In 2024, Amazon Saudi Arabia ran White Friday (الجمعة البيضاء) from 21 to 30 November, with Prime members shopping 24 hours early and discounts of up to 70%, as Okaz reported. noon runs its own version under the name Yellow Friday. Its 2024 edition ran from 20 to 30 November across the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Egypt, with discounts of up to 80%, according to Absolute Geeks.

That window is what people mean when they search "white friday uae" or "white friday saudi", and your brand competes inside it.

When is White Friday 2025?

Each retailer sets its own dates, so treat any 2025 window as expected until it is announced. If the marketplaces repeat their 2024 pattern, expect sales to open around 20 or 21 November and run to the end of the month.

The fixed points are easier. Black Friday falls on Friday 28 November 2025, the day after US Thanksgiving, and Cyber Monday on 1 December. Plan your peak spend around that weekend and treat the days before it as the build-up.

Why is the GCC November calendar so crowded?

Gulf shoppers get three discount moments in three weeks, then two national days in December. Each one trains people to wait for the next deal, so decide which moments you will own.

  • 11.11 (Singles' Day), 11 November: a marketplace habit in the UAE for years. In 2020, Amazon.ae ran its 11.11 sale from 10 to 12 November and noon dropped deals throughout 11 November, according to Khaleej Times.
  • White Friday and Yellow Friday, late November: the main event, about 20 to 30 November on the 2024 pattern.
  • Black Friday and Cyber Monday, 28 November and 1 December 2025: the peak weekend inside the window.
  • UAE National Day (Eid Al Etihad), 2 December: The National notes that "National Day falls on December 2." In 2024, 2 and 3 December were paid holidays for private-sector employees.
  • Qatar National Day, 18 December: the Qatar Ministry of Foreign Affairs describes it as "celebrated on December 18 of every year."

How do you build a White Friday marketing strategy in six weeks?

Work backward from the first sale day. If the marketplaces open around 20 November, a six-week countdown starts in mid-October, well before auction prices climb.

Week 1 (13 to 19 October): set the offer and the math

  1. Choose the offer type: percentage off, bundles, gift with purchase or free delivery thresholds.
  2. Set a margin floor per product, then work out the break-even ROAS for each discount level. The free break-even ROAS calculator on our DTC ecommerce page does this in a minute.
  3. Confirm stock and delivery capacity with operations. A sale that sells out on day two wastes the budget you planned for day eight.

Week 2 (20 to 26 October): build audiences and check tracking

  • Refresh seed lists: past buyers, cart abandoners, email and WhatsApp opt-ins.
  • Build lookalikes from your best customers, not from all site visitors.
  • Exclude anyone who bought in the last 30 days from prospecting.
  • Test your pixels and server-side events now, not on Black Friday.

Week 3 (27 October to 2 November): produce creative

  • Brief three to five concepts: early access, bestsellers, bundles, countdown and "last chance".
  • Produce every concept in Arabic and English and in vertical 9:16 for Snapchat, TikTok and Reels.
  • Put the offer and the price (AED, SAR or QAR) in the first second.

Week 4 (3 to 9 November): warm up and test

Launch prospecting at modest budgets and let each concept compete. Grow an early-access list, so day one starts with warm people to message instead of strangers to persuade.

Week 5 (10 to 16 November): decide on 11.11

Either run a small, clearly different 11.11 offer or skip it on purpose and keep building the list. What you should avoid is spending your best White Friday discount ten days early.

Week 6 (17 to 23 November): load the sale

  • Swap in the final winning creative and schedule budget increases by day.
  • Send early-access messages as the marketplace window opens.
  • Agree who can pause ads and change budgets during the sale, and how fast.

How should you pace budget and plan for CPM inflation?

Expect to pay more per thousand impressions on the peak days, and size that increase from your own history rather than a generic benchmark. Pull last year's daily CPM, CPC and conversion rate for 1 November to 5 December, by channel.

Example (illustrative numbers): AED 30,000 at a normal CPM of AED 20 buys 1.5 million impressions. If your peak-week CPM rises to AED 30, the same budget buys 1.0 million. Holding reach would take AED 45,000. If you can't fund that, concentrate peak spend on past buyers and warm audiences, where higher conversion rates can absorb the higher price.

A season budget of AED 150,000 could be paced like this (illustrative):

  • Weeks 1 to 4, testing and list building: 15% (AED 22,500)
  • 11.11 week: 10% (AED 15,000)
  • White Friday window up to Black Friday weekend: 55% (AED 82,500)
  • Cyber Monday and the final days: 10% (AED 15,000)
  • Post-sale retention and National Day: 10% (AED 15,000)

On Google Ads, use seasonality adjustments for the peak days only. Google Ads Help describes them as ideal for short events of one to seven days and warns that they may not work as well over longer periods, such as more than 14 days. What should White Friday creative and offers look like?

Clear beats clever in a feed full of "up to" offers. State the exact price, the saving and the delivery promise.

  • Specific offer vs vague offer: "SAR 149, was SAR 199, delivered by Sunday" beats "Huge savings".
  • Native Arabic vs translated Arabic: write Arabic copy for the audience. Literal translations tend to read as foreign.
  • Many variants vs one hero ad: run several concepts and refresh the ones that fatigue.
  • Early access vs public sale: give subscribers and past buyers a head start. It rewards loyalty and moves some sales out of the most expensive days.

How does White Friday differ in the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Qatar?

The season is regional, but currency, language and the post-sale calendar differ by market.

  • UAE: price in AED and run Arabic and English side by side. National Day on 2 December lands the day after Cyber Monday, so have your national-day creative approved before the sale starts.
  • Saudi Arabia: price in SAR and lead with Arabic. Use الجمعة البيضاء in Arabic search campaigns and ad copy, since that is the name Amazon Saudi Arabia uses. Expect noon's Yellow Friday to compete for the same shoppers.
  • Qatar: price in QAR and put delivery dates in the ad if you ship from a UAE or Saudi warehouse. Qatar National Day on 18 December gives you a second, separate peak about three weeks after Cyber Monday.

If you also sell in the UK, Black Friday falls on the same day, 28 November, so one production sprint can feed both markets with GBP pricing and English copy.

What should you do after White Friday?

The sale is where you buy customers. December is where you find out whether they were worth the price.

  1. Exclude sale buyers from discount ads for at least a month, so they don't learn to wait.
  2. Send a thank-you flow, then review requests and replenishment reminders.
  3. Run National Day and year-end gifting campaigns at full price to warm audiences.
  4. Report the share of new customers and their repeat rate at 30 and 60 days, not just sale-week ROAS.

How Grower helps

Grower is an AI marketing platform that runs the whole season in one system. In the Creative Hub, you generate ad variants for each offer and accept the winners straight into your asset library. During the sale, the AI recommendation engine reads every ad channel plus web and app signals and tells you what to change. Once you approve a change, it pushes it to the channel, and low-risk changes can run on autopilot. For ecommerce brands, the break-even ROAS calculator on the DTC ecommerce page helps you set the floor before you set the discount.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between White Friday and Black Friday?

They are the same idea under different names. Souq.com introduced Black Friday to the Middle East in 2014 and called it White Friday out of respect for Friday as a day of worship and family. Today White Friday usually means a sale window of about ten days in late November, rather than a single Friday.

When is White Friday 2025 in the UAE and Saudi Arabia?

Retailers announce their own dates, so check each one. In 2024, Amazon Saudi Arabia ran White Friday from 21 to 30 November and noon's Yellow Friday ran from 20 to 30 November. If 2025 follows that pattern, plan for a window of about 20 to 30 November, with Black Friday on 28 November.

Should my brand run an 11.11 sale as well as White Friday?

Only if the offer is different and your margins allow two discount events in three weeks. A common approach is to use 11.11 to test creative and grow an early-access list, then save your strongest offer for White Friday. If you do run 11.11, keep it short and exclude its buyers from White Friday discount ads.

How much should I increase my ad budget for White Friday?

Base it on your own data. Pull last year's daily CPMs and conversion rates for November, estimate how much more impressions cost at the peak, and decide whether you will fund the same reach or narrow it to warm audiences. Spending more without that check often buys the same customers at a higher price.

When should I start planning a White Friday campaign?

Six weeks before the first sale day is a practical minimum. That gives you a week each for the offer and margins, audiences and tracking, creative production, testing, an 11.11 decision and final loading. Starting later usually means launching untested creative into the most expensive auctions of the year.
